When to use it
The Slant method is a two-dimensional hold–build–hold trajectory. It is suitable when the well can be designed in one vertical plane without a planned turn.
How to use it
- Choose the Slant tab and specify your target.
- Provide two of these four parameters: Hold Length 1, Build Rate, Maximum Hold Angle, and Hold Length 2.
- Leave the other two for DirectionalPlan to calculate.
- Click Calculate, then inspect MD, inclination and TVD at the section boundaries.
Useful checks
Check whether your proposed KOP and build rate are reasonable, and verify that the tangent reaches the target.
