Run an Anti-Collision Analysis

Select relevant offset designs and inspect center-to-center distance, separation factor, and the associated warnings.

Open planner

Start with a valid active design

Open the active planned or surveyed design in the Workspace tree. Confirm its location, north reference, survey stations, and survey tool program. For reliable multi-well analysis, offset wells must also have compatible physical locations and appropriate surveys.

Select your offset wells

  1. Choose Offsets under Quick Access → Anti Collision.
  2. Search the Workspace tree for relevant nearby designs. Use the search field or the radius control to narrow the candidates.
  3. Select the required offset designs and choose Apply Offsets.
  4. Check that the expected offsets are displayed before interpreting results.

Read Center to Center and Separation Factor

Choose Center to Center for the minimum spatial separation between trajectories. The active and offset closest-approach points can occur at different measured depths; do not assume the calculation compares identical MD stations.

Choose Separation Factor to evaluate clearance relative to calculated positional uncertainty under the application's configured method. Review the minimum SF, active MD at the minimum, the corresponding offset, and the warning level, rather than looking at the graph alone.

Investigate potential conflict

When an offset approaches the warning criteria, inspect the Plan and 3D views, survey tool assignments, error-ellipse assumptions, and whether the compared designs are the intended versions. Adjust the plan only after confirming the geometry and reference data.

Important: The accuracy of an anti-collision result depends on input survey quality, correct tool/error models, accurate surface positions, and the analysis settings. No graph replaces a formal well-control or collision-avoidance procedure.
