Dogleg Toolface Planner

Construct a constant-dogleg steering section using toolface and a selected solving mode.

Overview

This method uses dogleg severity and toolface to define curvature. Unlike separate build and turn rates, toolface describes steering orientation around the wellbore's axis.

Workflow

  1. Choose Dogleg Toolface.
  2. Select Hold Dogleg and Toolface, To Point, Tangent to Point, or an alignment mode.
  3. Enter the required toolface, dogleg severity, target, or final alignment values.
  4. Calculate and review the final MD, inclination, azimuth, and 3D steering shape.
